Position Description

Contribute to a wide range of engineering and construction projects with primary responsibility for coordinating laboratory operations and field services activities in TBT Engineering’s Kenora Materials Testing Laboratory. The Laboratory and Field Services Coordinator ensures that material testing, site inspection, and quality control activities are scheduled, executed, and documented efficiently and in compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role bridges field operations, laboratory services, and project teams to support accurate, and compliant project delivery.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete daily laboratory and field-testing and inspection operations, including scheduling personnel, equipment, and resources to meet project timelines.
  • Complete soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other material sampling and testing both on-site and in the laboratory.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and certification of laboratory and field testing equipment.
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, technologists, and contractors to align field and laboratory activities with project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to ensure compliance with corporate standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Review and complete field and laboratory reports for accuracy, completeness, and timely submission to project teams.
  • Maintain organized records, documentation, and data management systems in accordance with company quality management systems and regulatory standards.
  • Support training and mentorship of junior field and laboratory staff.
  • Promote and enforce health and safety practices in the laboratory and on-site, ensuring compliance with OHSA and corporate safety policies.
  • Assist with workload forecasting, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives within laboratory and field services operations.

Qualifications

Practical experience in civil field services, materials testing, laboratory operations, or construction is considered an asset. A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline is an asset but not required. This position requires a minimum class G2 Ontario Driver’s License.  TBT Engineering provides training and certification opportunities.

This position is classified as Full Time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications.
