How does it work

  • primary function reduce porewater pressures to eliminate source of problem (liquefaction), by load transfer and improved drainage of porewater pressures (show graphs of PWP vs treatment level).  General project summaries (show treatment level and layout).
  • is not fully rigid to be compatible under heavy dynamic loads (wont fatigue or jack out)
  • installation can be surgical (density of treatment can be altered to apply more treatment where required (capital costs can be offset by targeting problematic areas and expanding treatment as needed.
  •  Added benefit is improved stability, provides partial load transfer to competent soils below peat, reduced porewater pressures  under dynamic loads (to maintain effective strength of peat), provides shear stress resistance through lateral load transfer
  • Added benefit, improved rail bed stiffness to improve rail life (There is a term for this I will need to look up).
