Survey Assistant / Drafting Technician

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with on-going surveying and drafting projects.  Responsibilities include:

  • Completing and coordinating land surveys involving:
    • Working with project managers and party chiefs to successfully undertake legal, engineering and construction surveys.
    • Managing equipment and resources.
    • Traveling to job sites and traversing sometimes challenging terrain.
  • Drafting and processing survey data using MicroSurvey and AutoCAD software.
  • Performing title searches and calculations.

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated technical abilities in surveying and drafting along with proficiency in the use of MicroSurvey and AutoCAD software. Education in geomatics, surveying or civil engineering is an asset.  A valid Ontario drivers license is required.

This position is classified as full time. Position Responsibilities

Working with our Administration group, the successful candidates will assist with day-to-day general reception and administration functions including:• Reception of employees, clients, and guests.
• Answering telephone inquiries, taking messages and coordinating contact.
• Updating and creating spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
• Routine administrative tasks such as printing, photocopying, binding, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies, and general clerical duties.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and should possess excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written. The candidate should be detail-oriented and possess organizational skills to manage tasks effectively. The candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively with others while also excelling in independent work environments. A base knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products is required.

Ontario Land Surveyor

Position Description
Leading in oversight of new and on-going legal survey projects with TBTE’s Geomatics Division.

Position Responsibilities
• Completing and coordinating land surveys involving:
o Retracement of original township boundaries and water boundaries
o Preparation of reference and registered plans for severances, subdivisions, condominiums, mining claims, and Crown lands
o Topographic and volumetric surveys utilizing all technologies, including drone data capture.
• Performing title searches, calculations and drafting
• Working with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
• Perform project management, including oversight of budget, and supervision of assigned staff.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the designation of Ontario Land Surveyor. Additional accreditation as a Canada Land Surveyor, or a commitment to obtaining such recognition, is highly regarded. Proficiency in industry-standard software, particularly MicroSurvey, will be advantageous.

Spearheading the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, contract documents and detailed cost estimates with TBT Engineering’s Environmental Services Division.

Position Responsibilities
• Lead environmental site assessments, site remediation and associated reporting.
• Coordinate and complete onsite investigations including Record of Site Condition projects.
• Lead hydrogeological program design.
• Lead project teams, manage resource loading, employee training and professional development initiatives.
• Oversee and develop budgets, cost estimates, and manage project financial considerations.
• Perform project management, including oversight of budget, and supervision of assigned staff.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated technical skills in environmental engineering, underscored by relevant qualifications: a degree related to Environmental or Earth Science, registration as a Professional Engineer with P.E.O. or registration as a professional Geoscientist with P.G.O, as well as 10+ years’ experience and an understanding of legislation and regulations related to Environmental Science in Ontario.

Position Description
The successful candidate will work with TBTE’s Civil Engineering divisions on civil design projects. Work alongside our engineering team on the preparation of detailed designs, plans, and specifications.

Position Responsibilities
• Producing detailed drawings and calculations in accordance with established codes, standards, and specifications – Focus on highways, roadways, infrastructure, municipal design, and stormwater management using Civil 3D, InRoads and OpenRoads.
• Applying technical principles towards various design and development tasks.
• Working with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope and objectives.

Qualifications
Demonstrated technical abilities in civil engineering design and contract administration, along with associated qualifications and certifications are required. The ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years’ related experience and possess knowledge of relevant engineering codes and design software.
