Ontario Land Surveyor – Thunder Bay

Position Description
Leading in oversight of new and on-going legal survey projects with TBTE’s Geomatics Division.

 

Position Responsibilities
• Completing and coordinating land surveys involving:
o Retracement of original township boundaries and water boundaries
o Preparation of reference and registered plans for severances, subdivisions, condominiums, mining claims, and Crown lands
o Topographic and volumetric surveys utilizing all technologies, including drone data capture.
• Performing title searches, calculations and drafting
• Working with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
• Perform project management, including oversight of budget, and supervision of assigned staff.

 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the designation of Ontario Land Surveyor. Additional accreditation as a Canada Land Surveyor, or a commitment to obtaining such recognition, is highly regarded. Proficiency in industry-standard software, particularly MicroSurvey, will be advantageous.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications. Spearheading the preparation of structural designs, engineering analysis, plans, specifications, contract documents, and comprehensive cost estimates, with a focus on structural solutions for commercial and institutional buildings in collaboration with our Buildings Engineering divisions.

 

Position Responsibilities
• Lead engineering, technical, project management and administrative direction on projects.
• Develop, verify, and finalize technical reporting and deliverables.
• Lead project teams, manage resource loading, employee training and professional development initiatives.
• Oversee and develop budgets, cost estimates, and manage project financial considerations.
• Conduct research, reviews, inspections, and technical investigations.
• Prepare proposals and actively participate in engagement with clients, government organizations, the public and suppliers.

 

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated technical skills in structural engineering design and contract administration, underscored by relevant qualifications; a degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer with P.E.O. A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the field is expected, coupled with an understanding of pertinent codes, legislation, regulations and design software.

 

This position is classified as full time.
